More than fifteen people from Congo Brazzaville met at the Support Service for Local Development Initiatives (SAILD) on January 21, 2025. Their purpose was to learn about SAILD’s experience in implementing the Youth Agropastoral Entrepreneurship Program (Youth-AEP) in Cameroon, financed by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Youth-AEP aims to support the creation of profitable businesses run by young men and women in the agropastoral sector, to contribute to the development of high-performance agriculture, to combat rural poverty and to improve food security.
SAILD, as one of the partners in the youth identification link, successfully carried out the first phase of the project in six production basins in the Centre-Cameroon region. In particular, SAILD raised young people’s interest in agropastoral projects through information and awareness-raising sessions, and helped them choose their business ideas.
During the meeting, the non-governmental organization shared its know-how with the Congolese delegation, made up largely of partners who are to implement the program in Congo Brazzaville. The Congolese representatives all left proudly equipped and ready to receive IFAD support to implement the project in Congo Brazzaville, entitled the Agriculture, Youth and Entrepreneurship Project (AYEP).
IFAD plans to relaunch the second phase of the Youth Agropastoral Entrepreneurship Program (Youth-AEP) in Cameroon in 2025.
