FLOOD ALERT

Precipitation forecast

Between August 21 and 31, 2024, rainfall totals in excess of 100mm are likely to be recorded in the South-West, part of the North-West, Littoral, Adamaoua and Far-North regions, notably in Mamfé, Bamenda, Douala, Tibati, Banyo, Yagoua, Mora and Kousseri respectively.
Cumulative rainfall amounts of between 81mm and 100mm were recorded in the West region and the rest of the Far North, parts of the North, Adamaoua and the Coast.
Cumulative amounts of between 60 and 80 mm are expected in parts of the North, Centre and East. The rest of the country will record rainfall totals of less than 60 mm.

Average temperatures

Between August 21 and 31, 2024, temperatures of between 26 and 30°C are expected in the North, the Far North, parts of the East and along the Coast.
On the other hand, average temperatures of between 22 and 26°C could be felt in parts of Adamaoua, the South-West, the West, the Centre and most of the East.
In most of Adamaoua and the Northwest, average temperatures could be between 18 and 22°C.

Notice

Expected weather conditions could lead to frequent flooding and damage to infrastructure. In addition, it is likely to record cases of water-borne diseases, influenza and malaria.

Advice

Avoid travelling in flood-prone areas, dress warmly and drive on flooded roads.
Growers are advised to save seeds and avoid cultivating in swamps and flooded areas.
