The national fair for organic and agroecological products, which opened on November 18, 2024 at the esplanade of Boulevard du 20 mai, continues to welcome visitors from Yaounde.
Organic seeds, agroecological equipment, agroecological fresh foods (potatoes, vegetables, fruits, edible mushrooms), agroecological processed products (mushroom juice and tea, fruit juices, medicinal herbal teas) are just some of the agroecological products on display at the national agroecology fair. Organized on the occasion of the first Regional Forum on Agroecology in the Congo Basin, the fair features some fifty exhibitors from Cameroon’s ten regions.
The fair, initiated by the Support Service for Local Development Initiatives, aims to inform and raise awareness among the general public of the importance of healthy eating. And to support agroecological producers. “Seeds of the future” offers quality peasant seeds. “ The company is taking part in the fair to popularize peasant seeds adapted to our agro-ecological and climatic conditions, and to enable every household to benefit from these quality seeds, which have been neglected in favor of imported hybrid seeds ”, says Donald Chewa, Marketing Manager.
Visitors come in waves, showing real interest in the agroecological products they discover on site. After touring the stands, Justin Kamga praises the efforts of the participants. “ I think the fair is a good opportunity to promote local agroecological products. I appreciated all the products we use every day. Especially the dried potato, which had a different flavor from what I’m used to buying in the markets ”, confides the visitor with joy.
Exhibitors aim to demonstrate Africa’s potential through agroecology, and to provide consumers with easy access to agroecological products until November 20, the closing date of the agroecological fair.
