The Support Service for Local Development Initiatives (SAILD) is the chairman of the IFI Monitoring Group. A platform created to monitor IFI-funded projects to ensure respect for the rights of local communities and the environment. The organization was elected at a general meeting held from October 30 to 31, 2024 in Yaoundé. Some fifteen civil society organizations were in attendance. The aim of the meeting, organized by GDA (Green Development Avocate), was to finalize the platform’s charter, elect the steering committee and define an action plan for the year 2025.
These objectives were achieved during the two days of group work. The IFI Monitoring Group was created nine years ago under the name IFI Synergy Group. It was in April 2024 that the platform’s name was changed following an evaluation meeting. At this meeting, the documents governing the platform’s operations (charter, internal regulations, intervention strategy) were drawn up and validated. Following this process, the general meeting was held.
