SAILD takes part in the 64th World Meteorological Day

Climate in the spotlight at the 64th World Meteorological Day in Yaoundé

SAILD took part this March 22, 2024 in Yaoundé in the round table organized by the National Meteorological Directorate under the aegis of the Ministry of Transport of Cameroon, on the occasion of the 64th edition of the World Meteorological Day held every year on March 23.

“On the front line of climate action” is the theme of the 64th World Meteorological Day, to be celebrated on March 23, 2024.
As a prelude to this day, a round table was held on March 22 in Yaoundé, led by Claude MISSE NTONE, Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, and Simplice TCHINDA TAZO, Director of National Meteorology. Also present was the Support Service for Local Development Initiatives (SAILD), in the presence of weather specialists.

“Today, no production activity can be planned without taking weather conditions into account,” noted NMD, which says it is more than ever at the forefront of climate action in 2024.

The aim is to inform the public about Cameroon’s progress in terms of weather observation and monitoring, as well as warnings of complex meteorological events in the country. To extend the dissemination of this valuable information, the Ministry of Transport has entered into a number of partnerships with specialized structures in the field, including SAILD.

To this end, the organization will specifically support the National Meteorological Directorate (NMD) in disseminating meteorological information on the agricultural season to Cameroonian farmers.
