SAILD trains communicators to promote agroecology

On August 20, 2024, SAILD organized a capacity-building workshop for ACCP communicators in Nkolfoulou in the Centre region – Cameroon.

The aim of this training workshop is to enable communicators from the 05 partner organizations of the ”Knowledge Center for Organic Agriculture in Africa(KCOA)” project to produce content to improve the visibility of the Knowledge Cluster for Organic Agriculture and Agroecology in Central Africa (PCAC).

The meeting was attended by a dozen communicators from 05 civil society organizations. These included the Support Service for Local Development Initiatives (SAILD), the International Circle for the Promotion of Creation (CIPCRE), the Sustainable Development Support Group (GADD), the Polyvalent Training Centre (CPF) and the African Institute for Economic and Social Development (INADES-Formation Cameroon).
For three hours, they learned about the methodology of writing a web article and the techniques of taking images. “Favoring informative headlines, using relevant keywords for better referencing, always putting your subject in a situation for a descriptive image” were just some of the recommendations made by trainers Rodrigue Kouang and Jean Kana from SAILD.

The Key: Harmonizing communication

Participants recognized the crucial role of communication in promoting agroecology: “Communication is the showcase for all our actions in the field. We understand that we need to feed the ACCP’s digital platforms, and sufficiently relay the publications of other organizations if we want greater visibility”, testifies Marguerite Momha, Communicator INADES-Formation Cameroon. At the end of the workshop, each of these organizations is expected to produce at least one web article every two weeks.

For Marie Pauline Voufo, Editorial Director of The Farmer’s Voice, PCAC-SAILD focal point, the working session was a success. “We have achieved the objectives of the reinforcement; but we are looking forward to the articles that the participants will regularly produce to illustrate the actions of their respective organizations”, she confided.

Thanks to this harmonization of communication, the ACCP should gain in visibility and contribute to more effective promotion of organic agriculture and agroecology in Central Africa.
