Acting for vaccine sovereignty in Cameroon
A forum to improve immunization financing in Cameroon
Analyze the budgetary framework through studies on the state of immunization financing in Cameroon
Collaborate through alliance building to ensure advocacy for immunization financing in Cameroon
Background & Justification
Against a backdrop of post-pandemics, global economic recession, climate change and scientific innovation, most countries eligible for support from the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) are increasingly faced with the need to finance national immunization strategies. Indeed, full coverage of traditional vaccines, the introduction of new vaccines and the gradual withdrawal of GAVI support require countries to take ownership of the financing of their national immunization programs through the mobilization of domestic resources.

The project is being implemented with a view to increasing national resource mobilization so that countries take ownership of the financing of their national immunization programs.
This will be achieved by:
Increasing the mobilization of national and/or sub-national resources for primary health care and immunization service delivery
Ensuring timely payment of GAVI co-financing obligations
Strengthening the accountability of national and sub-national governments to reduce the number of zero-dose children and increase immunization coverage
Inform and raise the awareness of the general public, the media and public authorities concerning the financing of immunization in Cameroon
Carry out budgetary advocacy to ensure that government commitments to GAVI are respected
Inform the general public through a social communication campaign to raise awareness of vaccine sovereignty
Carry out advocacy to broaden the range of players involved in implementing immunization activities
Strengthen community capacities to ensure commitment and support for immunization issues
From December 1, 2024 to November 30, 2025
The project is funded by the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI).
